Sheri Miller: Mantra – CD Review

03_0533Pop music could very well have a new diva to contend with. I can honestly say that Christina and Britney could fall into a blender and not even be missed on the pop scene. I love this chick. That means a lot since I really dislike pop music – it leaves this nasty taste in my mouth. I guess it has to do with the fact that any signed pop artist does not even write their own material. I hate that. It cheapens the art of music to the point of just being comedic bull. It makes other artists think they do not have the talent to forage ahead in the industry unless they employ a writer. Fact of the matter is that this sullies the good name of real artists all over the world so it is nice to see someone like Sheri Miller who has a very nice tone and great lyrical ability. She reminds me a lot of Pink and Christina.

Sheri tells a great story in her words and uses her vocal range to really put an oomph to it that gets you to feel those words. There are not many musicians that are able to pull that off. It is this unseen ability that allows an artist to connect one to one with whomever is listening to it. You got to love that about this girl. Mantra makes you feel for her in ways you may only feel for your lover – that is that connection that I am talking about (and wow – I used the word “that” a lot right there). Mantra makes you understand the feelings of how she loves someone – in a way it makes you want to understand her all that much more. The song itself is very Nora Jones quality.

Devil in White is a song that has a little more spunk to it. I can picture myself sitting in a coffeehouse with a lovely cup of espresso and tapping my foot to the nice, clean beats. Watching her move on stage – swaying to the art she is creating. I know for a fact that she would be connecting on a one to one level with every single person sitting there.

If you love rich vocals and great music as well as an artist that can share with you their inner most feelings right there then you will love Sheri Miller. It is important to know that she is original and has a great voice in both sound and lyrical quality.
