Trench Coat Yuppies: This Is Next… – CD Review

Yuppies = Young Urban Professionals; i.e. Republican bozos. Trench Coats = Columbine whack jobs, menacing, dangerous. Trench Coat Yuppies = Demented young Republicans with machine guns and dominatrix porn. “Florida Flight School” – an intro that is a rub against the Florida flying school that taught our friendly terrorist’s how to fly into the WTC. Needless to say this really sets the CD up.

“Oppression” is a song about real life in most countries. The good ole US of A included depending on your thinking of the subject. A crude song, but musically well done and controversial lyrics are always great.

The intro theme is a running plug throughout the CD – a cruel yet funny look at the events of 911 which many will feel offended by – and although over the top it still works for these guys including their odd song “Why Am I So Brown” which could certainly be taken the wrong way.

From Anthrax, 911 and Guantanamo Bay the Trench Coat Yuppies pull no punches with a punk look at current events and society. Though mainstream success will probably never come (big music honchos don’t want to piss off Uncle Sam) they can have great success in the underground scene where real music tends to flourish.

If you’re into rock and anti-society punk style then I have to say that the Trench Coat Yuppies are your picks bringing to the frontlines some disturbing music with a political conscious and statements that could be considered anti-American or racist nature. I like this sort of stuff because I think controversy is fun plus it is certainly a way to prove this country is great cause we can talk about ANYTHING.. well, nearly. I recommend them for those of you who dislike anything too damn mainstream.
