Vago: Over Moon And Heavy Arms – CD Review

Vago could be considered a sort of whiney rock sound. When the vocals pop on point they’re kind of annoying – don’t work well with a lot of the arrangements. Sometimes it’s not pretty but other times it’s quite excellent.

“American Joe” is a decent song, tells a story and pushes some people to think somewhat like “The Water” about walking away from your home then returning to find things changed and being upset over that.

If you’re a fan of storytelling songs that can be identifiable to most all of us then “From Here To New Orleans” is certainly a song you will like which follows the story of a lot of us can find ourselves living from bills and college to growing up. It’s a good song that is unique and all around nice despite not being the best vocally or musically but so what.

The song “Cowboy Sea” is probably the most vocally sound. Lyrically though it’s kind of weak, but musically it’s great so all around it’s worth a listen and I wish the other songs were as clean vocally as this one.

Vargo is an all around good and fun band. Their music is rock influenced that tells a lot of stories much like country music does. I guess you could say they would compare to the Black Crowes a little bit in terms of lyrical content. I think personally that i prefer Vago over them. The CD is a definite listen.
