The Unemployed – CD Review

If the bands Fall Out Boy, Green Day and Weezer sound familiar to you then so will The Unemployed. They bring a fun, poppy-punk sound to their music which is sound and includes some nice, smooth vocals and lyrics they could very proud of. “The Photographer From The Set Ruined My Life” is an interesting paparazzi song – enjoyable and fun.

Those of you out there who are as old as I am will, when you hear “Love Is Strange”, will automatically flash to something that sounds very much like a Beatles throwback tune or The Crickets. It’s also so very show-tunish, theatrical and very good too in my opinion, very unique.

Wow – “Am I Bitter” is a great anti-relationship tune saying paPOW to Ex’s all over the world. Great lyrics, music, vocals – all around done great and could see it being a radio hit. As good as “Am I Bitter” is I think “Self Deprecate” is the best song. Sure – it’s not musically perfect or vocally mind-blowing but what it IS; is very telling and honest plus it’s humorous.

Recommending The Unemployed is a no-brainer. Fun music, punkish and very poppy sounding and is easily one of the best I’ve heard in a long time. Everything is very well thought out well done – not a bad song in the lot and most assuredly an easy buy.
