Quito, Ecuador — A bus traveling south of Ecuador’s capital lost control Sunday, killing 42 people and injuring 11 others, officials said.
The bus crashed around 3:30 a.m., the Ecuadoran Red Cross said.
Rescuers responded to
the crash site, located about 55 miles south of Quito.
The injured passengers range in age from a 3-month-old baby to a 71-year-old and are being treated at local hospitals, the Red Cross said.
Investigators are trying to determine what caused the crash.
