The Last Army – Music Review

13_1725The Last Army only sent us four songs to wor

k with so I don’t want to heap too much judgment on them as even for me, its hard to judge someone’s entire work with only four pieces to go on. So far though, this is a pretty good little EP. The melodies are dark but haunting in a vein closest to Black Box Recorder while the female vocals remind me at times of Jessicka from Jack Off Jill.

The Last Army is fun but at the same time dreary enough to listen to on a rainy day. The last song, “Every Party Ends With You” is the most indie sounding of the whole EP even though it opens with a primarily surf rock sounding guitar riff. For lack of more constructive criticism, this is just a really good song -its catchy, its fun, and its more upbeat than the others. It sounds like it’s from a totally different band but while the rest of the EP has a much different (but still awesome) sound, the EP on a whole is really great and interesting.

This is another band I’d advise you to do whatever you can to listen to them now so that when they start getting big on the indie scene, you can totally one up your friends, saying you liked ’em back when they were ‘underground’.
