Demon City Wreckers: Inner Demons – CD Review

11_0703Rating: 3/5

This is a slower album than what I had expected from the name, but these guys are still fast and pretty hardcore.  They seem to love dealing with the morbid topics, which is fine with me, but after a while the same subject matter and the same kind of tunes start to get repetitive along with the wailing and the childish insults.

“Undead Rumble” and “Thirty-Ninth & Norton” are definitely worth a listen unless you are one of those who are only into soft shit.  Judging from their Youtube videos, the band plays much better on stage than they do on this album.  It’s not hard to hear that they are having fun playing this record, but if I had gone to one of their concerts, I probably would have a much higher opinion of them than I do right now.

I like that these guys are a bit punk that never bothered with imitating some other bands, and just rush headlong into doing what they think is best.  But that is never going to cover up all the flaws of the album, complete with the sometimes off key vocals and the all too loud guitar that denied the bass a chance to play a decent part in the record.
