Chicane Theory: Lose Track Of Time – CD Review

11_0635Rating: 3.5/5

The band sounds amazingly alike to Nirvana especially on the track “Fuzzy”, which brought back some of that lost grunge sound I sorely miss.  Like Nirvana, Chicane Theory plays simple guitar riffs with a steady drum beats.  Only flaw in the instruments is the rather weak bass line that tends to disappear at times.

The first two track “Decision” and “Fuzzy” are the definite highlights of the EP.  But since this is a debut, it’s expected that these guys are not consistent.  They have potential to be really good though, especially if they write better lyrics.

The biggest weakness of the album is the later tracks that lost the energy of the first two songs and the rawness.  I want the three guys in the band to speed up their playing and rip through their lyrics with abandon.  A little screaming can help out very well.

Kurt Cobain was a pop star at heart, but his music only showed his anger, anguish, and despair.  Chicane Theory could very well be the undeveloped pop side of Cobain.
