KS: Funky Elevator Music – Music Review

0003KS: Funky Elevator Music – Music Review When you listen to Funky Elevator Music, the second offering from ambient maestro KS, it feels like a sonic acid trip through a lush jungle of constantly varying tones, pitches, and tempos. KS pushes the limits when it comes to blending seemingly random sounds in order to create cohesive songs, and the result is surprisingly fresh. “Retard Funk” could quite possibly epitomize this cohesion, as the song follows a fairly steady bass-line throughout, while ever changing synthesizers flood your ears with transcendentalist rhythms.

“Our Dance” really stood out on the album, due to its change of tone midway through the track. Even without words, KS is able to convey an upbeat mood during the first part of the song. As the tone grows darker, it is clear that his mood has changed and a certain amount of depression has set in. KS showcases his incredible skill at the keyboard, alternating between piano and guitar sounds. “When In A Euro Club” is the perfect lounging jam, with its relaxed vibe and light melodies. It is clear that KS wants you to let your mind drift away to this vivid soundscape.

With twenty-four tracks on the album, it may seem like too many. However there is no filler and Funky Elevator Music is meant to be listened to in its entirety in order to get the full sonic experience. Whether you’re an ambient listener or not, let KS bombard your senses with this creative and original album.
