NYC Small Biz Beat: What you need to know NOW

NYS to enforce state pandemic requirements in NYC hot spots; schools/non-essential businesses may be forced to close in 11 NYC zip codes.

NEW YORK CITY (October 4, 2020) Today, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that, “as we did with bars and restaurants,” New York State will deploy personnel starting tomorrow to do “aggressive enforcement” of social distancing, mask-wearing and other state pandemic requirements in all businesses located in “hot spot” zip codes. The zip code list is evolving, but now includes: 11223, 11230, 11210, 11219, 11367, 11204, 11229, 11691, 11374, 11218, 11235.

Separately, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced today that, if approved by the state, the city will shut down all non-essential businesses and schools in nine zip codes with COVID-19 cases above 3% for seven consecutive days. Closures would affect these zip codes: 11691, 11219, 11223, 11230, 11204, 11210, 11229, 11415, and 11367. Indoor and outdoor dining would be closed, as well.

Zip codes approaching a positivity rate of 3% or more for seven consecutive days that are currently under scrutiny include: 11205, 11211/11249, 11235, 11234, 11213, 11218, 11374, 11366, 11432, 11365.
