NO SOMETIMES YES [EP] by Luca Draccar

The world of Italian EDM music is filled with land mines and hazards the average music orientated pop culture person does not have wherewithal to navigate without an experienced guide. You could find yourself lost in a series blind alleys and cul-de-sacs filled with 180 BPM drum loops, synthesized squawks and beeps timed to repeat to lull you and your brain into a trance like coma, where the jerking form of human body behaves like one of the less fortunate zombies on the WALKING DEAD. There is much we can praise about Italy in all areas. From the people to the food, to the combination of cheese and music that the best Italian pop dance music brings forth. When it is done well we get one tasty dish.

With his current EP, NO SOMETIMES YES, Italian DJ Luca Draccar (https://www.lucadraccar.com/) manages to pull it all together with the style and taste of a great chef. The track NO SKY is a good example of how the DJ makes his music appear in the same way a summer storm can form from nowhere on the horizon. It evokes the feeling of a match striking to light some sort of musical dynamite charge. Ambient chords and single notes play off each other against the heartbeat of the percussion.  One of the things I like about the best DJs is how they maintain a connection to the human psyche by adding in human sounds like hand claps to provide a buffer against the over mechanized keyboard sounds that seemingly everyone can produce on their phones these days.

The wonderful thing about the music I hear on this EP is the versatility of it.  A cut like BLACKOUT or LOVERSIVE would stand out in a small intimate dinner party soundtrack mood setting. It would be equally at home used in synch with a television show high action sequence where you see the erstwhile hero or heroine running to save mankind in some post apocalyptic wasteland.  Or you can picture detectives riding through the big city streets to apprehend their targets before other bad guys intervene. This is well crafted music from a newly immigrated Italian DJ to America, and I take this opportunity to say thanks and Benvenuto! to America. Keep the music coming.
