Adam Zwig ‘Visions of the Shimmering Night’ Review

Visions+of+the+Shimmering+NightHe lets you in; his voice charms you into thinking you’re the only one sitting in his personal pew. At times his vocals are sleepy, yet hauntingly beautiful. Adam Zwig’s personal touches on the 11-track country-rock flavored ‘Visions of the Shimmering Night’ are as if he’s created a new corner in the church of rock n roll.

With several standouts, ‘Visions’ has an interesting pace keeping the listener engaged. “Everybody Love” is polished with solid pop-rock orchestration. While the song might appeal to John Mayer, Ryan Adams or even Neil Young fans, “Everybody Love” has this way of growing on you. It takes a few listens, but you’ll get there.

“Waiting on Heaven (To Make a Move)” and “Can’t Afford to Fall” are both fine examples of Zwig’s intricate lyrics. As the tunes fall into place, “When All the World Was In Love,” “So Glad,” “Many Worlds” and more, Zwig’s songs reveal more layers. Still, his consistent murky guitar and in the case of “I Remember You” a happily skipping piano bridge await the listener.

Zwig is not a showy singer-songwriter. He’s consistent and its as if he hypnotizes the listener with his sometimes brooding voice. Still, he shines. Overall, ‘Visions of the Shimmering Night” garners a solid A review.
