Glen Campbell’s 2008 ‘Song For Obama’ Still Inspiring Voters in 2012 – Video Interview

20120709_1257Four years ago something extremely significant and massively historic happened. Barack Obama came on the national scene and his message of hope in his election campaign for the United States Presidency was so enormous it took Glen Campbell away from his small architectural company.

Glen explained, “Just the idea that an African American just like me had finally become President of the United States of America was a landmark achievement. An inspiration to anyone who had relentlessly fought so hard over the years for the freedom from slavery, for civil rights, for respect and recognition. Music has been a part of me so I poured my soul into Song for Obama, The task of composing this music was a mandate which did not factor-in profit because the significance of the time was too profound. The piece is a road march that all people can get behind and it could swell into a victory march when President Obama is back in the White House for another term. The production had to be a brilliant work which contained the essence of a monumental composition that can become a classic historic anthem. It wasn’t only about composing a song; the most important cause was to document the historic election of a great man through a significant musical statement. A spiritual conviction that combines the breeziness of Caribbean ballads, the cool undertones of American Jazz, the throbbing intensity of African-American soul, the Classical form of European music and the energy of Latin American rhythms.”

M3Radio.com is currently running 2 versions of ‘Song For Obama’ in heavy rotation and inviting listeners to email their comments to the station at m3newmusic@yahoo.com so they can be shared with their listeners. This could, in effect, be something like a rather unique radio town hall symposium that will be open to comments, concerns, criticism, support and debate.
