Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds himself on an unexpected journey to the fabled Fountain of Youth when a woman from his past (Penélope Cruz) forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane).
As a great fan of the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films I find that this one falls extremely short of its predecessors. The quest in the story (searching for the fountain of youth) was quite lame since most of the characters are not overly old. New characters were added to the genre but with little appeal. Clearly, Disney and Bruckheimer were looking to just cash in on the franchises past fame, and did not put in any real effort. Oh and the 3D effects felt like an after thought. But I guess that’s how all new movies will be filmed, so I better get uses to it.
