Across Five Aprils: Life Underwater – Music Review

Metal bands whether European or from Detroit or San Francisco or L.A. have a characteristic sound attributed to dedication and hard work, constant touring to achieve  that driving rhythm section and distinguishable vocal sound. I have never heard anything as compelling as Brad Mullins metal pipes. It’s not the demonic growl or the gravelly throat of your everyday metal singer. It’s the bull horn in front of a tight driving force propelling the band creating a rolling, churning groove .

Their first album A Tragedy In Progress in May 2003 on Indianola Records led to tours alongside bands like Underoath, My Chemical Romance, Norma Jean, Haste The Day, Atreyu and It Dies Today.

Following some member changes, the band wrote and recorded their second release for Indianola, an EP entitled Living In The Moment. This was followed by the departure of  frontman Steve Taylor  the band  then picked up new frontman Brandon Mullins. Several  US  tours with bands such as The Banner, and then proceeded  lead to their second full length release, Collapse. After  the albums release  Across Five Aprils went back on the road full time band was picked up by Victory Records in July of 2007. Across Five Aprils released their Victory Records debut album, Life Underwater. The album was recorded by producer Matt Goldman from Glow In The Dark Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. It was released on February 19, 2008.
