Candidate for District Court Judge in Oklahoma John Mantooth is facing negative campaign from his own Daughter

John Mantooth is running for District Court Judge in Oklahoma. When he decided to run, he may have thought that he would face some negative campaigning, but I’ll bet he didn’t expect this.

According to a story in the Los Angeles Times, his daughter, Jan Schill has started a website, DoNotVoteforMyDad.com.

Schill argues on her site that Mantooth…’is not a good father, not a good grandfather, and in my opinion a review of his 37 year record in Cleveland, Garvin and McClain Counties reveals that he would not be a good judge.

But Schill wasn’t done. Her husband, Andrew, writes on the same site as an attorney with extensive experience practicing law in that part of Oklahoma. He writes ‘I cannot imagine staying silent when I weigh the consequences of him sitting in judgment over a community I dearly love.’

Mr. Schill then tells a pretty interesting holiday story. He says that a few days before Christmas 2004, Mr. Mantooth arrived at Schill’s law office with a golden basket, and then quickly departed. Schill peered through the basket, and found a number of goodies, including a box of chocolates.

Schill decided, as many of us did, that he would partake of the candy before sharing the rest with his family. Imagine his chagrin when the chocolate filling had been replaced with dead worms and weevils. Mantooth then called Schill’s office the next day to ask him not to eat the chocolate, that they were a ‘special’ gift for his daughter.

Mantooth had an interesting response to these allegations. He stated that his belief is that this is part of a negative campaign, since Schill’s ex-law partner, Greg Dixon, is Mantooth’s opponent in the election.
