Webcomic Questionable Content

Webcomic Questionable Content

Questionable Content shortened QC is a slice-of-life webcomic authored and drawn by Jeph Jacques. Questionable Content was first launched on August 1, 2003. It is now at 1700th strip and recent one was posted on July 2, 2010.

Jacques now makes his living entirely from QC merchandising and advertising, transforming QC to one of the self-sustaining webcomics. In a short period since 2004, Jacques pushed QC to that level where it was able to support him and his future wife with the income from merchandise and advertising sales.

The QC’s narrating style merges romantic melodrama, humor, sitcom, humor about indie rock music, and included sexual humor. The artistic style has particularly changed over the time, as Jacques has been continuously refining his drawing techniques. It is notable that the earlier strips were focused at a niche audience of Indie music fans, and now the comic turned out to be more story and character driven.

And here is how the QC business kicked off. In 2003, Jacques was employed at a local Easthampton paper selling papers on telephones. As per Jacques, the huge amount of idle time and access to the internet led him to get interested in webcomics. He got really interested in music and Indie rock especially, and he felt that there is no other comic that deals with that aspect of the culture he came from.
