Bryant’s statement seemed like he was taking a hard line: “I’m not doing it. I feel like I was drafted to play football, not carry another player’s pads.”
But when ESPN Radio in San Antonio caught up with Bryant at practice the receiver’s mood seemed pretty light-hearted. Bryant repeated that he wasn’t going to carry the pads of veteran receiver Roy Williams because “I’ve got too much stuff to do out here,” but added that he and Williams were “just joking around.”
