DENVER — Colorado Republican Senate candidate Ken Buck is apologizing for disparaging remarks he made about tea party members who question President Obama’s birth certificate.

Outside a June campaign stop, Buck used a vulgarity in referring to so-called birthers, saying he wants someone to tell those “dumba—s” to stop asking him about birth certificates while he’s on camera.

Buck says he shouldn’t have used the word and shouldn’t have lumped tea partiers together.

However, Buck says, he was frustrated that the nation’s debt problems have been overshadowed by questions about Obama’s birth certificate.

An audio tape of the comments was secretly made by a Colorado Democratic Party worker assigned to tracking Buck and obtained by The Denver Post and KUSA-TV.
