Blind arrogance is what gets individuals and nations into trouble

Dallas, TX, – Albert Camus, French-Algerian author and philosopher, had it right when he wrote about the nature of evil: “The chorus in the classical (Greek) tragedies …knows that up to a certain limit everyone is right and the person who…oversteps this limit is heading for catastrophe if he persists in his desire to assert a right he thinks he alone possesses.”

In Ernie Hunt’s fast-paced thriller, Paris Under Siege (Publish America), the author brings much-needed attention to the crime of human slavery and the plight of some Muslim women, and while the story focuses on the arrogance of fanatical Muslims, the message is that arrogance can be found in all faiths, in all leaders and all lands…and it always leads to trouble.

Paris Under Siege is the story of Aboud, a man posing as a wealthy but benevolent Algerian in France, who appears to help poor North Africans in the Paris suburbs.  However, a New York reporter, Penny, knows what he really is – an Islamic terrorist hell bent on destroying famous American institutions in Paris.  Penny’s friend Charles, at first not heeding her warning, gets a wake-up call when he is captured by the terrorist following his discovery of Aboud’s arsenal of weapons hidden in the Sahara desert.

Charles suffers horrible torture at the hands of the fanatical terrorists but is rescued by a Muslim Egyptian flight attendant who is seeking her own justice against Aboud for enslaving her after a 2001 Islamic riot against women in Algeria.  The excitement is non-stop as the two flee across the desert on a camel and face untold dangers at the hands of the terrorists, who leave Charles critically wounded.  When they finally get to Paris, they enlist the help of an officer in the American Embassy and, together with Penny, the unlikely foursome set out on a mission to thwart the terrorist’s plans.  There the action-packed chase begins and doesn’t stop until the unpredictable ending!
