Ólafur Arnalds’ sophomore album …and they have escaped the weight of darkness to see North American release June 8

Icelandic neo-classical artist Ólafur Arnalds has announced the release of his second full-length album, …and they have escaped the weight of darkness, in North America on June 8th via Erased Tapes (Peter Broderick, Nils Frahm).

…and they have escaped the weight of darkness will herald another intense year for Arnalds: the album will set off  a world tour, that started in China since March.

It will also bring him to the UK for his first performance with a full-blown symphonic orchestra conducted by André de Ridder (Nico Muhly/Damon Albarn) on July 1 at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.

The 23-year-old composer is bringing his beguiling electronic chamber pop and classical compositions to destinations the world over, with sights set on the US and Canada later this year.
