Jordan Galland Releases his sophomore album "Search Party" April 20, 2010

To Coincide With His Debut Feature Film Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Undead

(New York, NY) – Jordan Galland, a New York based musician and filmmaker, will release his sophomore album entitled Search Party  via Slush Puppy Music (Dopo Yume, Domino) on April 20, 2010 to coincide with the release of his debut feature film, Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Undead. A romantic comedy starring Jake Hoffman, Devon Aoki and Ralph Macchio, Undead explores the conspiracies and legends behind “Hamlet,” The Holy Grail and some seriously sexy vampires.

Search Party similarly showcases Galland’s knack for mixing genres and evoking the mood of another time in his music, while his modern narrative lyrics keep the listener in the present tense. “Like if Arcade Fire, Leonard Cohen and Rufus Wainwright were to all meet up for a swanky meal in a stylish, smoky jazz club” (Jack Pudwell, Subba Cultcha).

Search Party pulls from material written through the spring and summer of 2009, building upon Galland’s solo debut Airbrush and a handful of material originally co-produced with Mark Ronson for the band Domino. The languid vocals and tongue-in-cheek lyrics that were so apparent on Airbrush are still a major part of Search Party, yet Galland expands a foundation inspired by the likes of Serge Gainsbourg, David Bowie and the Talking Heads with robust African beats, mangy T-Rex-style guitar and brassy horns.

With help from musicians David Muller (percussion, drums, bass, piano), and Sam Oatts (trumpet, flugelhorn), Galland takes on vocals, acoustic guitar, piano and keyboard. Galland previewed this new material at Canadian Music Week in March playing an acoustic concert with old band mates. While in Canada, he was simultaneously promoting a screening of Undead in Toronto and speaking on a panel about music developed for film and television (he’s contributed music to The OC, CSI, motion picture 21 and countless others). Add it all up and you might event want to call him a Renaissance Man. For more information, visit www.jordangalland.com or www.myspace.com/galland.

About Jordan Galland
Jordan Galland is a writer, filmmaker and musician who grew and up and currently lives in New York City. Musically, Jordan jumped onto the New York club circuit at eighteen with his band Dopo Yume. After its formation in 1998, Dopo Yume went on to tour with Rufus Wainwright, Cibo Matto, Lilly Allen, Phantom Planet and Fischerspooner to name a few.

The band released three full-length albums in their six-year existence, simultaneously catching the attention of producer Mark Ronson, who commissioned Galland for numerous songwriting projects, including a track for the motion picture soundtrack for 21 and on Daniel Merriweather’s 2009 full-length, Love & War. Parallel to his work with Ronson and Merriweather, Galland continued to refine the multitude of songs he was writing with plans of a solo-album in place.

Beginning with a 5-song session on New Years Eve of 2006, Jordan laid down tracks for what would ultimately become Airbrush, his solo-debut. With help from David Muller and Sam Oatts, the trio worked on material over the course of three years, resulting in the self-released Airbrush and the forthcoming Search Party.

Galland also recently completed his debut feature film (which he wrote and directed), Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Undead, starring Jake Hoffman, Devon Aoki and Ralph Macchio, with an original score by Sean Lennon. The film continues to receive critical acclaim and a warm audience response from festivals such as Slamdance, AFI Dallas and the Hollywood Film Festival. Jordan’s combined passion for filmmaking and songwriting can be seen in a handful of animated music videos he created to accompany Airbrush, at www.youtube.com/jordangalland.
