List of Toyota recalls and suspension of sales

In an effort to advise security of Toyota users, Toyota Motors recently recalled another list of Toyota cars asking their dealers to temporarily suspend the sales of these Toyota car models. This new recall is to correct a situation in which the gas pedal could stick without the presence of a floor mat.

Toyota spokesman Brian Lyon explaining the main reason and issue regarding Toyota recall said: The situation is rare but can occur when accelerator pedal mechanisms become worn. The problem will usually develop gradually. The pedal may become harder to press and may become slower to return when released. In the worst cases, it may become stuck in a partially depressed position.

The suspect parts are made by a U.S. supplier, but they are also found in its European-made vehicles, an official with the automaker said Wednesday. Toyota said it hasn’t decided what to do there.

Toyota Motors also said that it will temporarily stop the production of these Toyota models in certain Toyota production facilities located in Canada, Indiana, Kentucky and Texas during the week of Feb. 1, 2010 to “assess and coordinate activities.” According to a Toyota spokesman, the vehicles currently being built will not be sold until they are fixed.

Toyota Models affected by this most recent and latest Toyota recall were the 2009-2010 RAV4, 2009-2010 Corolla, 2009-2010 Matrix, 2005-2010 Avalon, as well as certain 2007-2010 Camry, 2010 Highlander, 2007-2010 Tundra and 2008-2010 Sequoia models.

However, to calm Toyota owners, Toyota pointed out that no Lexus Division or Scion vehicles were affected by this latest Toyota recall, leading to the suspension of sales. Also unaffected of this Toyota recall list were Toyota Models: Toyota Prius, Tacoma, Sienna, Venza, Solara, Yaris, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Land Cruiser and select Camry models, including all Camry hybrids. These Toyota car models will remain on sale, according to Toyota.
