TV PERSONALITY TO APPEAR AT RINGLING DESIGN SUMMIT
SARASOTA FL – A lean, energetic and friendly design genius who hosts a lively show on HGTV, David Bromstad, has signed up to speak at the fourth annual Design Summit at Ringling College of Art and Design. The event is Feb. 5-6, and details are at www.sarasotadesignsummit.com.
Mr. Bromstad, who is 36, hosts Design Splash on HGTV, and expresses as his philosophy, “Color is the root of all design.”
He graduated from Ringling College and joined Disney as an illustrator. Later he formed his own company, Bromstad Studio, in Miami Beach, FL.
Over the years, he designed dream bedrooms for children, and sharpened his carpentry skills so he could actually build the furnishings and props.
He is one of the most celebrated interior design personalities on television, and has appeared on HGTV Showdown, HGTV’s $250,000 Challenge, the Oprah Winfrey Show, the Wendy Williams Show, Martha Stewart Living Radio, and CNN.
The Design Summit’s theme is “Design + Business: The art of designing business solutions.” The college quotes one thinker, Herbert Simon, as describing the role of the designer as follows: “Anyone who tries to improve a situation is a designer.” At the Design Summit sessions, it is expected that experts will tell how to use storytelling to unleash new business solutions, how science incorporates design thinking into its discovery process, and how health care is transforming customer service by applying user-centered design.
