The story of the boys in Bamboo Shoots reads like a Cinderella fairytale. Plucked from obscurity, the New Jersey-born quartet with Indian roots was respectively headed for graduate school when the band was named the winners of MTVu’s Best Music On Campus in 2008. In an instant, Bamboo Shoots were signed to a deal with major label Epic Records. Within days they were booked to perform on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” and began to tour with diverse musical stars such as Plain White Ts and Soulja Boy.
Bamboo Shoots debut album ARMOUR was released on September 29th. Produced by Jerry Harrison (of The Talking Heads and Modern Lovers), ARMOUR features a sound which is at once space-age and retro, yet ridiculously contagious with upbeat, dance tunes infused with guitar riffs. You can check out Bamboo Shoots at www.myspace.com/bambooshoots. Bamboo Shoots are currently on a nationwide tour and will play at Pianos in New York City on Friday, December 18th. The band is available for interviews and performances. Please let me if you would like to set something up. Please also let me know if you would check out the band live…I’d be happy to add you to the guestlist.
