French-inspired Brooklyn group Clare and the Reasons are preparing for their late fall North American tour with The Vic Chesnutt Band (featuring Guy Picciotto of Fugazi and members of Thee Silver Mt. Zion) in support of forthcoming sophomore release, Arrow, out October 20th on Frog Stand Records.

To celebrate the upcoming tour and album, Clare and the Reasons are releasing their brand new video (embed link included) for the first track on the album, “All the Wine,” directed by Ryan Foregger. The band has also designed and hand-sewn all of their outfits for this tour, are bringing two hot plates on the road to cook for everyone, and have put together a scrapbook of the scored-out music of Arrow plus photos, to be sold on the road. Check out their great tour PSA through Kickstarter.com for more info!

Clare and the Reasons is fronted by collaborators Clare and Olivier Manchon. Their sophomore album, Arrow, features a guest appearance from Shara Worden of My Brightest Diamond and is the followup to the band’s acclaimed orchestral-pop debut LP, The Movie, which included contributions from Van Dyke Parks and Sufjan Stevens. Live, they have a steady list of contributors (including members of The National and Beirut for this tour), with a lot of instruments– cellos, violas, things to hit, kazoos, baby kotos, saws, recorders. Van Dyke Parks says, “Clare is the Reasons defines esprit de corps.  Chamber music with edge. Get this Visa to real musical adventure. Totally transportive!”

“Brooklyn’s helium-voiced Clare Muldaur Manchon coos ever-so-sweetly about the bummer part of love…Think Regina Spektor x Nina Persson and you’ve got the gist” – NYLON Magazine

“Indie-pop darlings Clare And The Reasons return with another twinkling number so sweet it should come with a toothbrush…a multi-instrumental festival, featuring glockenspiel, horns and kazoos. No wonder Sufjan Stevens is one of their biggest fans.” – Magnet

“Clare Manchon is [classy], with a voice like old flannel; warm, soft, with just a tinge of prickle.” – BUST

“Endearingly sunny.” – CMJ

“Clare and the Reasons deliver an assortment of meticulously constructed and arranged songs…reminiscent of Nina Persson of The Cardigans, to swoop and dive through Bjork sized intervals. Imagine Andrew Bird collaborating with Harry Nilsson to write a soundtrack to a French Noir movie and you’ve got a nice approximation” – The Deli NYC

“Clare and the Reasons [is] très magnifique.” – Big Takeover

“lovely…” – Death + Taxes Magazine
