It’s hard to deny: Life is teeming with synchronicity or, if you prefer …coincidence.
Anne Goodwin, author of Stay For Lunch, never thought that following her intuition one day would change her life. Goodwin, in a mental fog still reeling from her grandmother’s death and a miscarriage, came across a car accident one morning. Instinctively, she stopped to assist one of the drivers and made the unexpected acquaintance of 86 year-old Francina.
What transpired changed Goodwin’s life forever. The two formed a close friendship that spanned a decade until Francina’s passing in 2000. From retirement communities to babies, Anne and Francina supported each other throughout the years. Inspired by Francina’s spirit, Goodwin wrote Stay For Lunch, which recently was awarded a 2009 Gold IPPY medal.
“I was always so impressed by Francina’s continual engagement in learning, participating and contributing; regardless of what ‘stage’ she was in life,” says Goodwin.
Stay For Lunch is a poignant memoir revealing life lessons Anne shared along the way with Francina, such as:
· Listen to your inner voice. Trust it
· Choose faith over fear
· Accept life’s twists with grace
· Act. Be someone’s angel
· Say Yes. Participate in life fully
Even though Francina has passed, Goodwin still holds dear the time they shared and the lessons learned.
“Francina and I definitely earned angel status in each other’s lives,” remarks Goodwin. “And since then I have been open to recognizing other angel opportunities as they present themselves.”
