Tuesdays Robot: Peace Sing – a – long – Music Review

06_0536Tuesdays Robot is a five-piece band from Minnesota. Their new release, Peace Sing-a-Long, is the follow up to the band’s self-titled 2006 debut.

With both their musical style and the messages that are found in their songs Tuesdays Robot would have fit right in at the famed 1960’s Woodstock Festival. The band’s music harkens back to that era with its messages of peace, love and understanding. Along with believing that we all need to work together to make this planet a better place not only for us, but also for future generations.

Tuesdays Robot blends folk, pop, and rock musical elements to create their style. This release offers up everything from folk edged songs that have a Dylan flow to several livelier pop/rock tracks that reminded me of the band, The B-52s.

Besides the usual guitar, and drums parts you’ll also find added elements in the songs like, group vocals, hand clapping, idol chit chat, and keyboard parts that, while sometimes more in the background, still help to add some really nice end touches to the songs.

Tuesdays Robot also has a quirky edge to them. That quirkiness gets started with several of the stage monikers used by band members including, Rick Robot, Android, and Hemptimus Prime. You’ll also find the occasional quirky song title used like, “Hip Roman Suicide” or “Yodeladywho.”

Highlight tracks for me from Peace Sing-a-Long included track-1, “I Am U,” a lively upbeat pop/rock song that comes alive with the group vocal choruses that are found on it. I also liked track- 10, “The Seeds of Peace,” an acoustic guitar ballad that talks about planting the seeds of peace in the world.

While Tuesdays Robot’s music might not be rocket science, it does features catchy choruses, and has a aura of fun around it that will have you up singing and dancing along to its beats. For me, that makes Tuesdays Robot’s, Peace Sing-a-Long, a good listen.
