A small, private ceremony to honor iconic actress Farrah Fawcett took place yesterday afternoon in downtown Los Angeles. Close friends and family gathered at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels to say their final goodbyes to the “Charlie’s Angels” star who lost her three-year battle with anal cancer last week.

Ryan O’Neal, her longtime lover, acted as one of the pallbearers alongside Redmond O’Neal, their 24-year-old son who was granted a temporary three-hour release from prison to attend the service. He is currently in jail for violating parole from drug-related charges.

Alana Stewart, a close friend of Fawcett’s, delivered a eulogy for the actress. “Goodbye sweet girl,” she said. “She never felt sorry for herself during her illness… she fought cancer furiously.” She continued, “She’s the most beautiful angel in heaven… She always seemed so indestructible.” Stewart directed a film documenting Farrah Fawcett’s cancer battle, “Farrah’s Story,” which aired shortly before she died. Fawcett’s doctor Lawrence Piro also delivered a eulogy.

Among the 200 guests at the one-hour Catholic service (Farrah was a devout Catholic) were “Charlie’s Angels” co-star Kate Jackson, actresses Joan Collins and Tatum O’Neal, writer Jackie Collins, and her ex-husband Lee Majors. Majors and Fawcett recently reconciled after years of not speaking.

“The funeral was really just beautiful and so sweet,” her cousin Lisa Fawcett told People magazine. At one point, she said, “everyone just embraced [Redmond].”

Following the memorial, guests were shuttled in cans to Jonathan Club for the reception where a band played Fawcett’s favorite music.
