If you find yourself at a night club 2-3 times a week or you periodically stop in front of the mirror showcasing your best dance moves, than do me a favor and give the latest compilation CD from Last Gang Records a listen.
As a new listener of the electronic dance genre, I did not expect to be amazed but to my surprise I was blown away. Literally!
Immediately after I pressed play, I jumped out my seat. Closed my eyes and imagined myself in the middle of the dance floor at the hottest night club in New York City. Due to a short pause in the song, I was forced to open my eyes. Magically I felt like the life of the party except there was no party, just me and my computer!
Last Gang Records, a Canadian label housing artist such as Crystal Castles, MSTRKRFT, and TIGA, has mustered up the perfect recipe for unforgettable electronic dance tracks with a combination of fun lyrics and colorful beats. “Fancy Footwork” by Chromeo, a track that I would not mind playing over and over again has a classic yet modern feel. It is truly a treat for all 80’s babies alike.
“Life We Live” and “Push Up Ya Lighter” both by Let’s Go to War are also undeniably refreshing tracks for those of you searching for something new in the upbeat world of electronic dance.
Many swear off this particular genre of music. I’m sure it has something to do with the lack of real musical instruments. I live by the musical rule: Listen to anything at least once. So while I agree, this compilation CD may not be for everyone, I encourage all to give it one chance. I can’t promise you won’t be disappointed but I can promise your ear a unique experience.
