The Season opens on August 5 with a first-ever appearance at SPAC by actor ALEC BALDWIN who will narrate Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait. Copland himself conducted the composition at SPAC on August 5, 1976 — exactly 33 years prior to this year’s scheduled performance of the piece.

Acclaimed Soloists

In addition to cellist YO-YO MA (August 12) and virtuoso violinist JOSHUA BELL (August 8), an exceptional lineup of guest soloists will highlight the season including: JEAN-YVES THIBAUDET (August 19); EMANUEL AX (August 13); ANDRE WATTS (August 6); YEFIM BRONFMAN (August 5); ARABELLA STEINBACHER and SOL GABETTA (August 21); KIRILL GERSTEIN (August 22).

“An Evening with Degas”

A first-ever collaboration between the Hyde Museum and SPAC celebrates French Impressionist Edgar Degas and the music that influenced his life and work (August 15). Images of Degas’ works will be projected on SPAC’s screens as the Orchestra performs. GIL SHAHAM accompanies on the violin.

Pops Performances

For the first time, the Orchestra season will feature three pops performances, conducted by JEFF TYZIK (August 7), ERICH KUNZEL (August 14) and MARVIN HAMLISCH (August 20).

Ticket order forms are available on SPAC’s website at www.spac.org. Tickets will be available for purchase online, via phone charge 518.584.9330, and in-person at SPAC’s Box Office beginning May 10 at noon.
