Apple iPhone OS 3.0 Previewed….Copy & Paste….MMS… FINALY

Today Apple previewed the long awaited iPhone OS 3.0 in California and announced registered developers would have immediate access to a beta software release.  With the release of the new OS over a hundred new features will be available to iPhone and iPod Touch users this summer.  Some of the highlights include cut copy & paste functionality, landscape view for mail, stereo Bluetooth, and the long over due MMS for iPhone users.

Copy and paste will be available and function across applications.  Landscape view will be available for mail, text and notes.  Stereo Bluetooth will be available in the new OS making it possible to use wireless headphones or speakers while listening to music (not for original iPhones though).  MMS will be available on the iPhone to send and receive photos, contacts, and audio files.

Other highlights include the new Spotlight search enabling users to search across all applications with a key word or phrase; Automatic login at Wi-Fi hotspots; parental controls for TV shows movies and apps from the App Store; In-App Purchases which will allow developers to offer subscription content; and integration of Google Mobile Maps with Apple’s new Maps API (Application Programming Interface).

As for as how well these new features will all work and what goodies developers be able to create with these new tools, only time will tell, but it looks to be an exciting summer for Apple fans.
