REVIEW: Piqued Jacks’ ‘Climb Like Ivy’

Piqued JacksTell me a story. Tell me about an enchanting character named Ivy.

Enter Piqued Jacks. This Italian rock band that bursts with flavor from classic rock, progressive riffs marked alongside devastatingly beautiful piano keys and anthem-like vocals. Sing with them. Rejoice with them. Rock with them.

“Reign of Clouds” has a startling, jarring guitar riff alongside a myriad of expanding sounds and explosive percussions. This song is worthy of so much and  shatters through a wall with interesting lyrics and bulging waves.

“Shyest Kindred Spirit” is a bit of a slower start. Wow, I’m still recovering from “Reign of Clouds.” “Shyest” is enchanting in its own way; the vocals are telling and move along like a day dream. “Romantic Soldier” is haunting. The beginning chant is like the smoke hitting the cold air.

“Romantic Soldier” dives right back into the almost psychedelic riffs and emotional vocal deliveries. “Home Is Forever” and “Moooody” continue the collections’ intrusive riffs and solid storytelling.

“Only A Bridge” and “Gift Handed Down For Generations” are fulfilling. “Beehive” is an eery, water-dripping-fueld mysterious piece.

Overall, I give high marks to Piqued Jacks Climb Like Ivy. The band’s songs have amazing, epic peaks. The summits are equally pleasing stopping grounds. The band takes you so far, juts you back and shoots you back to that high point. It’s a thrill.
