ADDISON STATION is a fun, funky band that makes light hearted music. The only thing the band takes seriously is not taking itself too seriously which is great. The make acoustic-driven Pop Rock that is high energy and packs a wallop of soulfulness.
Formed by Trent Gerbers and Jeff Kenniston about a decade ago, the band seems to be just hitting its stride now. The Suit Up EP might be a clever nod to this past summers’ “The Avengers” movie, and in a way, ADDISON STATION is a group of talented guys coming together for the greater good. To rock and to party! “Burn” is a phenomenal opening track song. High-energy pop with a fun delivery, the song is a winner. Gerbers in particular has a ROB THOMAS/MAROON 5/BARENAKED LADIES vocal thing going on and the track is just so damn catchy. All the elements work well from the snappy drums, vibrant bass lines and the perfectly rendered funk guitar lines. “Feel It” is a danceable party anthem, not unlike something THE BLOODHOUND GANG would do. I was a huge fan of that band for a time because their songs were funny, but always quite clever, and ADDISON STATION is in the same mold. Taking the excitement down a notch, “Robyn” shifts gears into a hopeful acoustic-driven love song. Great vocal harmonies and a memorable chorus highlight the track and it manages to skip all the cliches others fall prey to. Another fun tune is “Rock Like A Party Star” which has a punk rock feel to it. I like the smart title and allusion to the otherwise unctuous song with a similar name. “That Girl” is another cool song. I really love the vocals in particular on this one too.
This is a band that can craft fun, versatile, and best of all original songs that will make you
smile. They are working on a full length for 2013 and I can’t wait to see what direction they take next.
