Mike Starr, Bassist For Alice In Chains Found Dead In Utah

A spokesman for the Salt Lake City Police Department said officers responded to a call about a possible body at a residence earlier Tuesday afternoon.

There appears to be nothing to indicate that this was foul play by another individual, and the results of toxicology tests could take up to two months.

The 44-year-old musician had appeared on the third season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew Pinsky, back in 2009, where he was treated for addiction to heroin at the Pasedena Recovery Centre.

He then appeared on the spin-off show Sober House, documenting his stay at a sober living facility following his rehabilitation.

Just last month Starr was arrested by police in Utah for an outstanding warrant and found to be in possession of a controlled substance – six pills of the sleep medication Opana and six pills of Xanax, an anti anxiety drug.

Mike began his career in the late 1980’s as the bass player for a band called Diamond Lie, which later became Alice In Chains.

The band became famous in the early 1990’s as part of the grunge movement but he was kicked out of the band for his drug addiction in 1992.
