Climate Video Action Week

Climate. Camera. Action. Connecting Americans to their Congressmen

WASHINGTON (January 28, 2010) – Today the Environmental Defense Action Fund is announcing Climate Video Action Week, a new video campaign designed to connect Americans directly to their congressmen.

Through the program, individuals from across the US are encouraged to make 30 second videos expressing why strong climate legislation with a real cap on carbon is important to them.

Joining the initiative is simple. Participants just need to save their videos on You-Tube and then enter their video’s URL at www.edf.org/climatevideoweek. EDAF will review and compile the videos by state and send them on to their Senators during “Climate Video Action Week” (March 1st to March 5th).

The best videos will be featured in EDAF’s upcoming online campaign. Sample videos and a quick instructional clip are available on the Climate Video Action Week website.

“We keep finding that congressmen want to hear more from their constituents,” said Rebecca Rasch, the initiative’s coordinator, “and this is a simple, easy way for Americans to communicate to Congress that climate is a priority for them.”

EDAF is working to help Congress pass clean energy legislation with a strong limit on carbon pollution through the Senate. Clean energy legislation with a strong limit on carbon pollution will move America toward energy independence while also creating much-needed jobs and protecting the climate.

The House of Representatives passed a clean energy bill, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, last June and the Senate in currently scheduled to vote on a clean energy and climate bill this spring.
