The Willowz: The Willowz - Indie Music Review
By Sharon Tharp, HOT INDIE NEWS .com

The Willowz's debut self-titled album is a welcomed relief with its
tracks spewing decades of punk rock influence. The band proves to
capture the 60's raw garage rock sound attempted by bands like the
White Stripes and The Killers, but only really ever successfully
executed by The Strokes. This band sits comfortably above the White
Stripes in terms of talent as the album offers more variety and
overall better quality songwriting. The frequent distorted guitar
riffs and catchy yet distinctive hooks keep the tracks consistent. The
album both starts and ends solidly with its only acoustic ballad, "I
Wonder," surprisingly placed well within the mix. Both "I Wonder" and
"Something" have been featured on the soundtrack for "Eternal Sunshine
of the Spotless Mind" and are undoubtedly the best tracks on the album
along with "Meet Your Demise." The band's unrefined instrumentals and
male/female collaborative vocals have made this Anaheim-based band's
albums part of my permanent collection. Check out their new
album-"Chautauqua."
