Popium: The Miniature Mile - Indie Music Review

The opening track of Popium's 'Anchor Down', reminds me of that song that's always on the radio that goes 'Turn around....yr back on yr....(brother? mother? I'm not sure)...that's a good idea, break a promise to (another?)' The point is it's alright for radio listening, I'm just sure I've already heard it on the radio before.
'Afterglow' is another flat, radio sounding song but the vocals have their moments of being extremely catchy.
'The Comeback Kid' is my favorite one on this album. It's acceptable for radio play but at the same time it's just plain GOOD. The vocals you can tell are strongly influenced by the Beatles and who doesn't like the Beatles? Besides communists. And they have horrible tastes anyway.
'Happy to the Core' is another just straight up song without much substance.
'The Minature Mile' opens with a different sound than the other songs so I started out with more hope. It's good but it's no 'Comeback Kid'. It sounds like they just relaxed a bit more.
'Sugar Coated' has more going on in it, but still doesn't measure up to Comeback Kid. All you can really say about it is that it's 'ok'.
Nothing else on this album really stands out. See if you can find 'Comeback Kid' on the internet, but if not, don't sweat it.
