"The average New Yorker sees upwards of 50 pieces of graffiti a day. But they never stop to think about the stories behind those pieces...this is one of those stories."

Yes, this definitely is one of those stories. For anyone who has ever been exposed to the graffiti sub-culture, it becomes palpable that the characters and storyline are genuinely authentic. Bomb the System the first feature film of writer/director, Adam Lough, is a visual drug enhanced with a dramatic storyline.

Lough breaks open a very unique style of directing--twisted angles, high shots, low shots, wild cuts, not to mention the vividly textured colors of each segmented scene; while his script is held strong by an entourage of incandescent actors. Mark Webber plays the lead role of ‘Blest’, who is an illustrious graffiti artist in New York City. Along with Jade Yorker as ‘Lune’, and Gano Grills as ‘Buk50’, their days are spent jacking paint cans, drinking 40’s, getting high, and ‘bombing’ the city. ‘Blest’, a.k.a. Anthony, haunted by his brother’s death, must make a choice: to continue living the life his brother led, go off to an art program in San Francisco (which would really blow, not the art program, but San Francisco), or to go on a graffiti road trip/mission with his girlfriend, Alex, played by Jaclyn Desantis. The theme of the movie is in essence like a trickle down effect where ‘Blest’ and his crew are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the generation of graffiti artists that came before.

I could go on about how ‘amazing’ or ‘exhilarating’ Bomb the System is or how many awards it’s won and all that shit; but no need--go watch the movie.
