Eddy Meets Yannah: Once In A While - Music Review

The sound is electro-soul, old school R&B imitation, and the lead singer has a decent voice but sometimes the singing doesn’t necessarily correspond well with the notes of the background instrumentals. They could use a few songs where she belts out to show us the true potential. I think the more developed and well-made songs are “Postman” where the music almost reminded me of Erika Badu’s style. “To Keep” is also a new wave, hip hop, electro-beat mix, seemingly with no real direction, and at some point it gets repetitive, but still enjoyable as some funky music in the background. This electro-soul music could use a bit of maturing, but overall the melody of this group is relaxing with the occasional kick of energetic beats. Eddie Meets Yannah’s music is creative in the fact that they continuously add in unexpected dashes of electro-funk influences in the recipe of their progressive soul concoction of music. It’s not for everyone, but if they improve their sound, the size of their audience will definitely grow.
