This is truly an entertaining rock band with enough music on one album to surprise and be enjoyable for a wide-ranging group of people. “Da Vault” is a dreamy side of them with slow rock instrumentals; “Can’t Reply” and “Me Again” are great examples of some great punk rock delight. To be completely truthful, Leiana reminded me a bit of the cliché British invasion punk sound we’re all familiar with. “Unkind” at first listen seems like a song you can’t help but move to from the very first few seconds, but once the singing kicks in it actually interrupts the high level energy, just as in “Whichside” – maybe it’s the lyrics that don’t work, or the unintentional monotone result within the verses, but sometimes it just doesn’t work. Otherwise, Leiana has true potential. With better vocals and more catchy tunes, Leiana could grow to be more engaging and entertaining.
