Iron Steel: Devil May Care - Music Review On a personal note you cannot pass up listening to a band that has songs like S.T.D. and Goth Girl – especially if you are me. I like uniqueness in song titles because it sets you up to be curious and pay closer attention to the music. I even like the name of the CD: Devil May Care. This tells me a little something about their attitude – that it’s pretty much: “Like it – great… don’t like it, piss off” – which is good! That tells me that they are making the music from the heart and no matter what I say it wouldn’t offend them!

I only have four songs to listen to and that is usually enough to tell if a band is worth listening to or buying a CD from let along spending money to see them play out somewhere. First thoughts are they are angry mofo’s! I like that! “Goth Girl” is a pseudo tribute – I think – to those hot, pale minxes that drive us metal guys nuts ‘cause we know they will spank us. The style kind of reminds me of clean speed metal. Does that even make sense? Speed metal is fast, furious and the ability to understand a damn thing is minimal. Not here. The music is fast as hell and tight – awesome licks… but I can understand the lyrics. The singing is melodic and in tune with the music and backup vocals which is hard to do at normal tempo but damn – this is some serious hardcore metal stuff and I am liking it (and Goth Girls too).

All of the songs were hard, thrashing and well put together, lyrically interesting and vocally unique - Slayer on acid if I had to make some sort of comparison. Other than that you cannot really put them into any comparison. They stand along and do so tall. Definitely worth a listen for any fan of thrashing metal.
