The Employees: See The Shadow - Music Review Does anybody remember when MTV2 came out and their extremely short lived stint as being 'the MTV with music'? If no one else is mourning this travesty (really), The Employees should.

For those that don't remember this blip on music history, MTV2 originally was entirely music videos - no commercials even! The music videos themselves were always of these alt rock, very mellow kinda sounding bands, (the kind I would throw on when I was exercising or something) which is where The Employees come in.

The first track, "Another Summer Day", to be quite honest was a horrible pick. It goes on and on and on - perfect for running on a treadmill when you don't want to be distracted but doesn't work so well when you actually want to listen to music.

But by track two, The Employees seem to have definitely gained more confidence. With the track "Nothing is Right (World)" the pace picks up, the guitars get more modern sounding while the vocals get more creative - nothing entirely groundbreaking here but certainly a much better track and pretty damn catchy. I start to feel relieved.

This might be an entirely off base opinion here but the feel main feel I got off this album was that they seem pretty reminiscent of Bracket, although less (little to no) pop punk influenced but more...mainstream '90s influenced, the more laid back but just around comfort level distorted guitars, the catchy melodies.

The song "Can You See" has a lot of what I hated about mainsteam '90's music, the melody here is just too Blind Melon pussy like to me. However even this song, on the whole isn't that bad and throws in some subtle but song saving graces, like having a strong bass line (it gets me everytime guys, it really does) and an interesting if not moderately repetitive bridge as if they're sorry too and are attempting to please me/everyone here.

"Come Here" even though it starts out with the key boards from Guns n' Roses "November Rain", launches (eventually. I promise) into a Green Day, circa 'American Idiot' vocals/heavy guitar combo. The talk box sounding solo I make no excuse for though and you guys are on your own, Employees.

All in all though, not one of the worst albums I've ever reviewed but not something I'd rush out to buy.
