Mattera Borough President Campaign Seeks P/T Fundraiser

IMMEDIATE OPENING: P/T CAMPAIGN FUNDRAISER

The Gloria Mattera for Brooklyn Borough President Campaign seeks a motivated individual for part-time fundraising activities now through the November elections. Gloria is the Green Party candidate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will report directly to the Treasurer and Candidate to help plan and implement all elements of the campaigns fundraising. These elements include, but are not limited to:

  • Phone banking
  • Direct mail
  • Website/email solicitation
  • Door-to-door
  • House parties

    The successful candidate can expect to use their time divided between personal communication with potential donors (40%), mailings (including formatting lists, developing letters, inserts, mail house negotiation etc.) (20%), attending house parties and meetings (20%), volunteer coordination (10%) and online fundraising and research (10%). Exact duties will vary from week to week.

    SKILLS

    The successful candidate will be strong in the following categories:

  • Personal communications
  • Marketing and/or sales
  • Administration
  • Volunteer Coordination

    Prior proven fundraising experience with an activist organization or political campaigns is preferred but not required.

    Moderate to Advanced desktop publishing and spreadsheet skills will be required, including:

  • Significant experience with MS Word & Excel
  • Mail merges & Label printing
  • Professional letter drafting & formatting
  • Spreadsheet creation use
  • Email (including distribution lists) and internet savvy
  • Basic graphics and database skills are desirable but not required.

    Must have own computer and a flexible schedule including weekends and/or evenings. Candidate must be committed to the values of the Green Party as it works toward a just, equitable, and sustainable society.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

    The term of this position is 2-3 months (now through November 5, 2005). The hours are 20 hours/week initially, possibly increasing to 40 hours/week as the campaign proceeds. The salary is $12-20/hour to start, depending on experience, plus expenses. Fundraiser will be paid as an independent contractor.
