MORE INFORMATION
About Fiddlers on the Loose
This multi-genre fiddle show features three New York fiddlers and their bands. Irish fiddler Cady Finlayson joins Darrell Looney of Da Phatfunk Clique (funky fiddle) and world-jazz fiddler Elektra Kurtis for a not-to-be-missed evening of fiddle music.

Cady Finlayson, Irish fiddle
New Age Voice Magazine states, "Cady Finlayson is one of America’s top Celtic fiddlers, expressing a level of soulfulness not commonly heard". Her spirited Irish fiddling has been heard at venues which include the Jacob Javits Center, Carnegie Hall and the Slainte Irish Festival. http://www.cadyfinlayson.com

Elektra Kurtis, leader of Ensemble Elektra (world-jazz)
Greek violinist/composer Elektra Kurtis has lived in Poland, Greece and Finland. Her original music is a blend of jazz and traditional music inspired by Mediterranean roots (Greek, Egyptian and North African) Elektra has performed with Lester Bowie, Gerry Mulligan, Paquito d’Rivera, Lionel Hampton, Max Roach, Ray Barreto, Simon Shaheen and Israel "Cachao" Lopez. Her CDs include "The Book of Time" (2000) and "Afrodite’s Smile" (2005). http://www.elektrakurtis.com

Da Phatfunk Clique
The funk/jazz sounds of Da Phatfunk Clique began with their 1999 "Pandemic Love" release, which was a collaboration between violinist Darrell Looney and bassist Brian Ellis. Artists Janet Rogers (keyboards) and Michael Thomas (drums) were added and the resulting vibe, both jazzy and funky, has been described as an amalgamation of jazz from Mavishnu Orchestra and funk ambience of George Clinton’s P-Funk. True to form, these are among the group’s influences as are artists such as Me’Shell NDegeOcello, Herbie Hancock, George Duke and Noel Pointer. http://www.phatfunk.com
