Dream Aria: Dream Aria - Music Review

This group is for sure atmospheric, a little hypnotizing, a little scary sometimes, and not mainstream at all. It is the kind of dramatic music that belongs on a fantasy/ thriller film soundtrack. The song "Spirit" has the electric guitar, which gives it an edge, and the fantasy genre seems appropriate with songs titles like "Spirit", "Dream Goddess" and "Blue Lady". I cannot really gauge what would be the target audience of this group, though. Sometimes I could not understand what she was singing about, but I think the point was the listen to the entrancing vocal skills sometimes, instead of paying attention to the lyrics. "Pacia" is a nice treat which sounds kind of exotic, but then turns into another kind of techno-opera ballad, which is what most of their music sounds like.
The lead singer, Ann Burstyn, sounds like those strong performers on famous movie soundtracks like Gladiator or Titanic that just use their voices to convey the emotions within the storyline. At first is seemed to clash with the fast, electro-ambient music, but with each song it seemed to fit in more and more. "Dream Aria" is definitely an appropriate name for this group as they seem to be creating this music within a dream, it's definitely not for everyone but can find a decent following within some underground, progressive, electro-spacey group of fans.
