Adrienne Frantz: Anomaly - Music Review

Adrienne Frantz has the laid back, lazy vocals of a trip-hop artist, and almost fools you upon first listening to songs like "Taken," and "Seven Minutes," she's almost hypnotizing with songs like "Final Goodbye" and "Wide Awake," The bulk of the music, however, is very relaxed, with soothing piano melodies, with some songs almost bordering on soft country-music melodies. Sometimes one wishes for just a little but more with songs like "Seren", then you realize that the point of the music might just be to relax you, and you need to just sit back and take in the slow and mild beats and vocals of Adrienne Frantz. Even in songs like "Anomely" it takes a little bit more effort to decipher the lyrics which are delivered in an ethereal and almost whiny fashion.
Sometimes I found myself bopping my head along to some of her songs; they had the catchiness of some mid 1990s folksy music. "Getaway is a good example of this. But I usually wished for just a little bit more. I would think the target audience for Adrienne Frantz's music would be the nostalgic woman who likes to relax on the front porch on a mellow summer's day. The music isn't fierce or progressive; it's relaxing and very feminine. It isn't necessarily something we haven't heard before, but most of her songs are fairly enjoyable for an evening of some easy-listening.
