Abysmal Dawn: Programmed To Consume - Music Review

By Michael Johnson, HOT INDIE NEWS .com

Abysmal Dawn: Programmed To Consume - Music Review I am quickly seeing a trend of new metal arising from the depths of hell to reclaim what was lost many years ago. They are bringing with them the flames of Satan himself to lay waste to the EMO generation and the pop diva’s wreaking a world of useless music upon the world. Abysmal Dawn, by any other name, would sound somewhat pessimistic but considering the song choices, well - they are. But hey - that’s metal is about - damning the world to suffer in the bowels of hell just because the burrito from Taco Bell sucks.

Aggression metal is something I have come to appreciate in my twilight years as a metal child. You grow up - you dislike your parents for stupid crap. You become an adult and realize what kind of an idiot you were when you realize the stupid crap they put you through was for a purpose. So you’re a tool - but you know what? The government is a much bigger tool than you are. Abysmal Dawn allows you to feel the annoyance that is the world. And if a few EMO kids have to get trounced along the way - so be it. I won’t get all EMOtional over it.

IS the music good though? That is important too, right? Sure. If you want to talk about the music it is damn spot on. The instruments are handled by experts and trying to mimic what these guys are doing could cause you harm. And if you try to sing like this guy you might find yourself seeing your voice box on the ground in front of you. Deaf metal should not be performed except by trained professionals. There is a lot of anger in the words but if you listen to them you will understand all that is said and what is meant. They have a knack of taking something that is reminiscent of Rammstein and adding second vocals to clear it up in spots to add more of a melody.

Metal fans - real ones - who love crunching chords, flash drum speed and deep vocals that could make your head explode will love Abysmal Dawn. Not recommended for the weak at art or the over emotional.
