Yvette Rovira at Crash Mansion - Live Music Review

By Gregg Sauber, HOT INDIE NEWS .com

Date Published: June 24, 2008

Yvette Rovira at Crash Mansion - Live Music Review Crash Mansion was lucky enough to host Yvette Rovira for her "Art of Attraction" album release party on Saturday, June 21st. Her performance started with "Intro", an ethereal tune that has intricate percussion and deep harmonic undertones. This song invoked the crowd and left them wanting to hear more from this talented indie songstress. "Inspiration", a slow melodic song, put Yvette's voice on complete display. The trumpet solo by Joel Gonzalez was quite impressive, and provided a welcome complement to her soft, sultry singing. This was followed by "High Life", an upbeat R&B track that showed Yvette's versatility. While this song was the fastest of the set, she was able to soulfully ride the beat with the fortitude of a more established artist. Rapper MC Atlas proved his skills on the mic as he traded verses with Yvette. "Breathe of Life" once again brought Yvette's voice to the forefront, hitting extremely high notes with ease. Her scat singing at the end of the song conjured up images of Ella Fitzgerald in her heyday, and once again demonstrated her flexibility. The slow, bluesy "Shell" was where Yvette was at her most vulnerable. She really invited the audience into her soul and was still able to maintain her composure throughout. "Be With Me", Yvette's first single from the album, closed out the performance with gusto. This catchy tune had Yvette dancing around the stage and the audience clapping along enthusiastically. The video for "Be With Me" was recently released and can be viewed on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8t0NvpMSgw). Yvette Rovira's performance at Crash Mansion was an eye-opening experience for the audience, allowing them to enter the complex world of one of the most talented and focused young indie artists out there.
