Oh My God: Fools Want Noise - Music Review

By Jen Klee, HOT INDIE NEWS .com

Date Published: April 15, 2008

Oh My God: Fools Want Noise - Music Review Oh My God is actually a little more...eh. What stands out most of all with them are the vocals. And they know this as there's a few almost acapella songs on this album, which aren't too bad. It actually is kind of rare to hear a good voice in pop music these days.

What stands out next is their guitars. Your average heavy guitars but at some points, it reminded me of Rage Against the Machine, almost as if Tom Morello joined Oh My God instead of Audioslave.

If this review doesn't seem like it's off to an incredibly positive start, at least know that Oh My God doesn't suck as much as Audioslave. Some of the other songs even reminded me of System of a Down's early work (before they started going downhill with Toxicity) specifically "Sugar", which is very reminiscent in Oh My God's "Facewash" but that has as much to do with the vocals again as well as the heavy guitars.

"Go Fly a Kite" is very catchy for a pop song but in a similar vein as the other songs in that it's pretty good but sounds vaguely like something you've heard before.

"Fools Want Noise," is the best song on the album in my opinion. It's more upbeat than the rest of the album and just generally has more going on. Its fun, if I could dance, I would. Oh My God is right in that respect in that I guess fools do just want noise.

However, fools also are the ones who are usually willing to shell out $19.95 for CD's these days so Oh My God should consider concentrating more of their energies on the noise for their next time around.
